Geocache Description:

Have you ever wondered what the first geocache in a specific city was?

I did.

Thanks to the magic of certain online tools I was able to find out this information.

I thought it we be neat to rehide a geocache at the exact same coordinates as those first caches. I tried to be faithful to the original hide.

I hope you enjoy visiting some 'historic' geocaching locations.

Geocaching Origins: Kingston

Name: RIDEAU0

GC code: GCF78

Geocache owner: Mike & Carolyn (slriver)

Date hidden: 07/07/2001

Notes: First geocache in Kingston

Original description: First cache in the Kingston area. An easy one to get local hikers interested. Park at the beginning of 'THE' trail. Cache is about 30 metres West of the trail. Follow 'THE' trail for about 300 metres (if you cross a culvert with a little stream, you've gone too far). There are birdies to the EAST and birds to the West. Look for a wide opening into a meadow in which there is a trio of white spruce. The cache is an ammo box at the foot of one of the spruce trees. There is a pair of local sunglasses, a lottery ticket, etc. in the cache.
