The term “dinosaur” is derived from two Greek words - deinos meaning “terrible” and saurus which means “lizard” - and was first used by English Biologist Sir Richard Owen in 1846. Variations for different species names come from a distinctive characteristic or where a fossil was first found.
Iguanodon were large, bulky herbivores featuring prehensile fingers with which they foraged for food, as well as large thumb spikes used to break in to seeds and fruits though also possible useful as a defence against predators.
Given its size, Iguanodon may have been bipedal in its early age but walked on all four legs as it got older and heavier.
