The term “dinosaur” is derived from two Greek words - deinos meaning “terrible” and saurus which means “lizard” - and was first used by English Biologist Sir Richard Owen in 1846. Variations for different species names come from a distinctive characteristic or where a fossil was first found.

Tyrannosaurus Rex, or “Tyrant Lizard King”, lived in the late Cretaceous, the very last period that dinosaurs ruled the earth, and although it seemed T-Rex only lived for 2 million years (a relatively short time compared to other dinosaurs), it made quite an impact.
T-Rex was one of the largest known land predators measuring up to 6 metres in height and though weighing nearly 14 ton could run at speeds up to 27kph. Estimated to have had the strongest bite among all terrestrial animals and an apex predator (top of the food chain), it might have also been a scavenger and to this day, the speculation among palaeontologists is widely debated.
