Story time! I started my yoga teacher training journey back in June of 2017. Once or twice a month, for an entire weekend, my training cohort would meet at the nearby yoga studio to learn philosophy, anatomy, meditation, and how to teach to all kinds of people - men, women, young, old, fit, unfit, with physical limitations, athletes, flexible, and inflexible... You name it, we learned it. It was an awesome experience in every sense of the word. After 6 months and 200 hours of training, we graduated with our certificates. Several months later, many of us returned, ready to continue our education and enroll in the 300-hour advanced training program. As I write this, the summer of 2020 is ending and after a few more years and many more hours of study, by the end of this year, I'll earn my 300-hour certificate. UPDATE: I finished the 300-hour training in May 2021, and I am now a 500-hour certified yoga teacher!
In the last three years, I have had many happy memories with my yoga friends. During the trainings, which would last several days, all day long at the studio, we would have the opportunity for a short break or a lunch break. Most of us opted to stay nearby as there are restaurants in walking distance.
The stairs you see in front of you lead to the shopping plaza on the other side of the road. If you were to walk up (or drive around), you would come across a dining establishment that serves a great coffee and brunch/lunch. Before this particular restaurant existed, it used to be a coffee shop called the Farmhouse. My friends and I have spent so much time together eating here for lunch, studying our coursework, and talking about our class ideas.
This area, while not a scenic view or an interesting piece of street art, holds a VERY special place in my heart because it symbolizes my journey and a culmination of hundreds hours of study & practice, not to mention friendships made. I hope you'll use the opportunity of finding this cache to perhaps contemplate a time when you put in hard work in your life and felt good about it, or to honor someone in your life who you feel proud of for doing the same. I would love to hear your story on the digital log if you care to share!
Thanks for taking the time to read about this special few years of my life, for allowing me to honor the close of my certification journey, and happy caching!
