大正から昭和にかけて活躍した小説家、本名はとしかず、大正12年菊池寛の推薦で発表した『日輪』をはじめ、川端康成と同時期に活躍しましたが、川端が日本初のノーベル文学賞を受賞したのに対して、横光は49歳で病に倒れてしまいました。岡本太郎が死顔のスケッチを描いています。
