Mikrokoinen perinteinen kätkö Tapiolassa. [See below for English description.]
Kätkö esittelee arkkitehtonisesti hienon mutta poissa käytöstä olevan Tapiolan uimahallin. Uimaan täällä ei kuitenkaan ole päässyt enää vuosiin eikä pääse vielä vuosiin. Sen sijaan purkin haun ohessa voi pohtia, miten hidasta julkisten rakennusten kohtalosta päättäminen on Espoossa.
Tapiolan uimahallin suunnitteli arkkitehti Aarne Ervi ja se valmistui vuonna 1965. Uimahalli on sijoitettu rinteeseen siten, että allashalli avautuu ikkunaseinin Tapiolan Keskusaltaalle ja katsomo ja muut tilat ovat rinteen puolella. Ikkunaseinien lisäksi rakennus saa luonnonvaloa laajasta kattokupolista. Hallirakennuksen jatkeena Keskusaltaan vierellä ovat ulkoaltaat aurinkoterasseineen, joten kyseessä onkin eräänlainen maauimalan ja uimahallin yhdistelmä.
Uimahalli peruskorjattiin ja sitä laajennettiin 2000-luvulla. Peruskorjaus ei kuitenkaan mennyt putkeen ja uimahalli onkin ollut kosteusongelmien suljettuna vuodesta 2016 lähtien. Espoon kaupunki teki vihdoin useiden vuosien väännön jälkeen vuonna 2020 periaatepäätöksen hallin peruskorjauksesta. Tavoite on, että korjaustyö käynnistetään vuonna 2022 ja että hallissa uidaan taas vuonna 2024.
Vaikka uimahalli onkin poissa käytöstä, uimahallin yhteydessä oleva lasten kahluuallas on palautettu käyttöön ja onkin kesäisin lapsiperheiden suuressa suosiossa.

The cache shows the architecturally beautiful but now obsolute Tapiola swimming hall. It has not been possible to swim here for years and it not be possible of some years to come. While looking for the cache, you can consider how long it can take to decide the fate of public buildings needing renowation.
The Tapiola swimming hall was designed by architect Aarne Ervi and completed in 1965. The building is located on a slope so that the pool hall opens to the Tapiola Central Pool with a window wall and other facilities are on the slope side. In addition to the window walls, the building receives natural light from the wide roof dome. As an extension of the hall building next to the Central Pool, there are outdoor pools with sun terraces.
The swimming hall was renovated and expanded in the 2000's. However, the renovation did not go as planned and the swimming pool has been closed due to moisture problems since 2016. After several years of turmoil, the City of Espoo finally made a decision in 2020 to renovate the hall. The goal is for the repair work to start in 2022 and be completed by 2024.
Although the indoor swimming pool is out of use, the children's paddling pool connected to the swimming hall has been restored and is very popular with families during the summer.
