This is my first Multi stage cache! It’s a field puzzle which will have you exploring the northeastern part of MOA’s “Section 36” parkland.
I hope you have fun exploring the area and go after the other great hides in this off-the-beaten-track part of Anchorage.
I’m launching the cache with Death Wish trackable (TB6RAXR) and a bison plus hand-enameled penny for FTF. I’ve also filled the hide with as much swag as would fit.
For the first stage you must locate BLM's Cadastral Survey Monument marking the northeast corner of Section 36. This monument is stamped with two rows of 4-digit years. To solve the puzzle, assign a letter to each digit of the years as follows:
ABCD
EFGH.
Then, let
U=B+6 V=C+1 W=D-7
X=F Y=G+1 Z=H+3,
and you will find your smiley at coordinates:
N 61 5.UVW’
W 149 42.XYZ’
(checksum U+V+W+X+Y+Z = 26).
