Geocache Description:

The St Day football club area covers the site of the brickworks and clay pits.

It was opened in 1864 as a claypit, initially producing china clay. The 1870’s saw the expansion of the brickworks, with a hexagonal Hoffman Kiln built in 1874, producing building bricks and fire clay items. The bricks are marked ST DAY. It was the largest brickworks in West Cornwall producing some 20,000 bricks a week. Changes in the market and competition from the St Austell area forced the closure in 1912. The site was dismantled.

Brickworks Hill, Vogue Terrace and Tolcarne Road border the site.

St Day FC formed in 1910, originally played on a field at Tolgullow, but by 1960 had moved to the brickworks site and continue to play here.

Had to move cache because of gate and fence alterations and the original cache container disappeared. Coordinates are pretty close. See hint.
