Geocache Description:

Welcome to The Thousand Islands Parkway.

This will be a very simple and easy Multi-cache. The first part involves a little history and solving a little puzzle, so lets get started:
** Proceed to N 44º 30.639 W 075º 47.597, there you will find a sign with 3 Panels that contains the answers you are looking for.
On the far left panel you will find two 4 digit numbers, add these 2 numbers together and add them to the bogus set of co-ords below to get the final co-ords of the cache.
N 44 26.750 and W 075 46.105

NOTES:> You now have a number of options, you may proceed the 2km to the start point by car, bike, walking, skiing or whatever you choose as there is a pathway for bikes and pedestrians.
  • The start point and parking is located at N 44º 29.750 W 075º 48.762 (park on the gravel strip outside the park only).
  • The park is an old campground that was closed by Parks of the St. Lawrence due to budget cuts.
  • This is a popular area for local dog walkers so bring you 4 legged friends along.
  • For those who are curious about the unusual bridge over the parkway, it is a horse bridge to allow the owners access to their private horse trails on both sides of the roadway.
  • Originally the 1000 Islands Parkway was a portion of Hwy. 401 when it was built. After the eastbound lane was completed they abandoned that portion and completed it further north, leaving us with the beautiful scenic roadway we have today.
  • There is a bluff when you are near the cache and it provides a beautiful view of Jones Creek, PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL NEAR THE BLUFF.
