THE CARVING is a chain saw wood carving dedicated to Norman Sykes who doanted 15ha of bushland to 'the young people of Railton'. He stipulated that the land be used as a sanctuary for birds, fauna and recreational purposes. The nearby Sanctuary [there's a cache in there] has a further monument as well as a picnic area. The cache is a 200ml systema container at the very base of the tree trunk holding the statue.
