Geocache Description:

CME HEADER

The Community Celebration @ Crosswinds Marsh event was held on October 24, 2020 to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Geocaching. The original plan was to hold the event in connection with one of the public events presented by the Crosswinds Marsh Interpretive Center during the spring. Because of the Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) situation the event was canceled, and the Anniversary Celebration was postponed. This cache is one of 12 that was placed in connection with the celebration. The theme of the series is Nature Events Through the Months at Crosswinds.

February: A new generation of Bald Eagles
Bald Eagles mate for life starting when they meet sexual maturity at age five. Finding the correct partner is tough work when you will be together for the rest of your life. After a variety of courting rituals the final stage is building the nest together. The first year they must construct the nest from nothing which takes weeks, but in the following years they will continue to build upon it and fix it up. Eggs are laid in February and after roughly a month of incubation the eggs hatch. The female does all of the incubation, but the male sits by the nest and keeps watch.

Bonus Cache
There is a 13th Geocache in this series called a Bonus Cache. The only way to obtain the coordinates of this geocache is to solve this puzzle: The coordinates are N 4A BC.DEF W 8G HI.JKL where the numbers associated with letters will be found in the covers of each of the cache containers. Be sure to make note of these as you find each of the caches. For a link to the Bonus Cache click HERE
