Geocache Description:

Some people call them benchmarks, others call them survey markers. We call them monument points and they play a very important part in the growth of our county.

When a development comes into the county the surveyor must "tie in" to at least two of these monument points no more than 3 miles away from the site to ensure accuracy. Last year we placed 50 new monument points replacing the older ones from the mid 80's. I was part of the committee that planned the location of these new monument points to get complete county wide coverage with no gaps. I'm also one of three people responsible for the maintenance of these 50 monument points so I'm delegating some of the responsibility to you lol. I'm NOT making a cache out of all 50 because some of them are on private property.

At the posted coordinates you will be looking for a 4" round disc set into concrete. You will see 15 - followed by a three digit number. You will need to take note of the three digit number as this will be needed to find the final.

I've included two pictures, a close-up and an area view. These monument points should be easy to find but use the pictures as a reference if you need them.

Now for the formula: For the last three digits of the North coordinates, subtract (-) the 3 digit number from 375 to get the last three digits of the posted North coordinates. For the last three digits of the West coordinates, subtract (-) the three digit number from 013 for the West coordinates.
