Pantapin is a small town in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia. The town originated as a railway siding that was planned in 1912 as part of the Quairading to Bruce Rock line. The town was initially named Ulakain, after a nearby well, and was gazetted under that name in 1914.
By 1921 there were enough children in Pantapin to warrant a school. The government provided the one room school. Some students transferred from the existing Yoting School because Pantapin was closer. In 1924, the numbers had fallen and the school closed, and the school building was relocated to Shackleton. The numbers increased in 1934, and the school was conducted in the Pantapin Hall for four years until 1938 when the numbers of children dropped, only to recommence in the hall again in 1944 until the early 1950s when a school building was transferred from Dangin. That building was used for a number of years until the school closed in 1962, and the building was transferred to Bruce Rock for a kindergarten. The children were then bused into Quairading school.
