L’ampliamento della Ciclovia della Valle Brembana, ora dedicata al grande ciclista di Sedrina, FELICE GIMONDI, permette di partire da Bergamo e giungere sino a Piazza Brembana.
L'opera è possibile attraverso il recupero di gran parte dell'ex sedime ferroviario che collegava dal 1906 al 1966 collegava l'Alta Valle con il centro città.
Sul percorso infatti i ponti, le gallerie le opere ingegneristiche varie erano di uso esclusivo alla rete ferroviaria.
A binario unico, con scartamento ordinario, elettrificata, ha garantito per 60 anni il trasporto di merci e persone.
Il nostro trenino passava anche a fianco di importanti siti produttivi. Alcuni di questi erano quelli della produzione della Calce.
Qui di fronte alla cache si può notare il grande complesso di trasformazione della UNICALCE.
Alla base della storia della Unicalce ci sono due società fondamentali: la “Industria Lombarda delle Calci in Zolle Gnecchi & Donadoni” fondata nel 1923, e la “Giovanni Ghisalberti” fondata a Brembilla nel 1927.
Sulla ferrovia hanno avuto modo di essere trasportati sia i materiali grezzi coltivati nelle cave locali, sia i prodotti finiti, destinati al mercato mondiale.

The extension of the Brembana Valley Cycle Ruote, now dedicated to FELICE GIMONDI, allows you to start from Bergamo and reach Piazza Brembana.
