This is the first oil well do be drilled in Allegany County NY. It was drilled in 1879 by O.P. Taylor. He had drilled two others before this one, both dry. This is a Historical marker not the actual well. Take the time to read about the history here quite interesting. Congrats to susiecraig for FTF !
