Geocache Description:

Standing close to the Deadwater river are many trees that have some natural damage, this Alder is one of them. This area is very close to the Deadwater valley river and can often flood in the winter and may prevent access.

Deadwater Valley F3. This is one of the “Free Caches” in the Deadwater Valley for you to try out geocaching.

This is a Traditional Cache, the cache is hidden at the given coordinates, see the hint for more information.
Note the BONUS information in the Cache.

This is not a circular route but an out and back again, we suggest you do it in the order F1, F2 & F3 if you have children so that they have caches to do in both directions. From the car park after a short walk you will join up with the Deadwater river and follow it north to Millchase road then return. The Deadwater river joins with the River Wey in another 400m.

The Premium caches will also take you to the southern end of the Deadwater Valley Nature Reserve and at the top of the hill to the west are the Walldown Enclosures Earthworks.

This cache is part of a few series of caches covering the Whitehill and Bordon area, and cover the Bordon Inclosure (BI), the Hogmore Inclosure (HI) and the Deadwater Valley (DW) , these have been planned and placed with the kind permission and assistance of the Deadwater Valley Trust and their volunteers, and each of the areas has a theme.
The Bordon Inclosure theme is Birds and Wildlife
The Deadwater Valley theme is Trees and Plants
The Hogmoor Inclosure theme is Military and History

The three areas are different habitats, they offer some beautiful walks and areas of activity. They are also a haven to various abundant Birds, Mammals, Reptiles and Amphibians so keep a lookout as you walk about. The Deadwater Valley Trust also have various events for all ages throughout the year.

For more information on Geocaching in Whitehill & Bordon we have a Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/cachingWB. with information of other series etc. in this area.

"As the geocache owner, I ensure that this links to a local geocaching group that is active in the community and contributing to geocaching in positive ways. This link has not been checked by Geocaching HQ or by the reviewer."

For new cachers, for those wishing to try geocaching without paying for a premium membership to Geocaching.com to see if you enjoy Geocaching, there is a mini-series on each of the three areas, consisting of 3 caches, and on the Bordon Enclosure and the Hogmore Enclosure these “Free caches” are wheelchair accessible, unfortunately the ones in the Deadwater are not tagged as wheelchair friendly. There are a variety of types of cache including a Traditional cache, a Multi-cache, and a Letterbox cache or a Puzzle cache.

In each of the caches will be a logbook for you to sign with your name/caching name and the date, there may also be a piece of information, which will be at the front of the log within Brackets in a coloured box (????) for you to note to solve the bonus caches, to do so you will need to do the caches on each of the three areas to claim it using the instructions on the bonus cache page, so 9 caches and the Bonus cache giving you 10 in all.

When looking for the cache try not to look too conspicuous, if asked just say you are Geocaching.
When you find the cache please sign the logbook with your “Caching name/your Name” & “the date” in the next available space.
There may also be some swappable items in the cache if you have something to swap or leave, but no sweets etc.

Now you can also electronically log this cache on your device app to turn the icon into a smiley face 😊 to do this select “LOG” or “Log this cache”, fill in the details and add a message about your adventure without giving away the locations or answers etc. some people will also add TFTC which means “Thanks for the cache”

* Swaps, some caches have room for items to swap these are usually cheap trinkets for children to find and swap, there are a couple of simple rules, 1) no sweets or Food, 2) no drugs etc. 3) only swap something of same value etc.
