Kennebecasis River No. 9.
Plumweseep Covered Bridge, named after the Mi’kmaq and Maliseet First Nations people who blazed the portage trails in the area. Located east of Sussex, William Francis Ganong identified Plumue'seep as the Mi'kmaq name for "salmon river". However, since there were many other locations with this name in New Brunswick, it was decided during the course of railway construction to go with a translation, back to the Maliseet for Salmon River, Plumwe-seep'.
Located 5.37 km NE of Sussex : Cardwell Parish, Kings County (pronounced "plum-a-sweep"): originally called Salmon River and renamed when the railway was built: PO Plumweseep 1867-1871 and 1887-1912: in 1871 Plumweseep was a station on the European and North American Railway and had a population of 50: in 1898 Plumweseep was a flag station on the Intercolonial Railway and a farming settlement with 1 church and a population of 70.
Follow Route 890 for 1 km from Exit 195 off Rte. 1 at Sussex. Turn right on to Plumweseep Road, follow to the end. Turn right on to Plumweseep Cross Road and follow to bridge. Built in 1911. Length 22.5m (74')
