Geocache Description:

More Caches to the Amber's 6th Birthday series brings you further into Tinkhamtown woodlands which can be accessed from either the Tinkhamtown trail head or the Tripp's Mill Trail head parking lot which can be found using the photo of the trail system that we have added to the photos section of the cache. If you are entering Tinkhamtown from the south the best place to park is at Tripp's Mill trail head and walk over. Please do not park in the parking lot for the little farm stand across the street from the field and please be respectful for the field you are crossing through is private property that the owners allow the passage to get to the trail just stay on the mowed path. You will be looking for a small camo'd container hidden less than 10 ft off the trail. Our handheld GPS signal was spot while the cell phone signal was very bouncy. There is no bushwhacking involved due to the small clearing.

Parking available for Tinkhamtown Woodlands is at 29 Long Plain Road and Tripp's Mill Parking lot is 41.6818104' -70.8568406, If you wanted to reach Amber's Caches 1, 2, 3, & 4 you could use the Tripp's Mill parking lot if not use the New Boston Trail head 41.6731049, -70.8657455 .

Tinkhamtown Woodlands is part of the Mattapoisett River Reserve, a growing network of over 500 acres of Conserved land in the Mattapoisett River Valley. These habitats protect clean drinking water for residents of Fairhaven, Marion, Mattapoisett, and Rochester. As one of the newest properties in the Mattapoisett River Reserve, Tinkhamtown Woodlands provides a fresh perspective on the reserve’s natural habitats and beauty. The property is named for the Tinkham family, which has lived in this part of Mattapoisett for centuries and once owned the land. Today, this land is now open to the public for you to discover. Take a quiet journey along the fern-lined trails, which welcome explorers of all ages – whether on foot, bike, or horseback. There is about a mile of well-marked trails that wind through Tinkhamtown Woodlands and the Woodcock Preserve. The trail stretches south through town-owned property to link with the trails at Tripp's Mill and The Bogs offering several hours’ worth of outdoor exploration for adventurous hikers. For a shorter trek, head into the woods and stay straight at the fork to reach the Mattapoisett Land Trust’s scenic Woodcock Preserve.
