This is a nice boat launch at a beautiful Van Buren County lake. There used to ba a nice ammocan cache here but it got archived. I wonder if it's still around?
So, I was standing at the end of the dock with my new fishing rod with a baitcast reel on it. These are a challenge to cast, not like a regular / spincast reel. You have to hold just the right pressure on the spool to let it spin but not spin too much. I mean, there is a learning curve to these. I am still deep in the curve. Hard telling where things are going to go when I sling that pole around. This one has a big ol 3 inch diameter spool that holds a lot of line. I swung the thing around, hit a car, clocked a child in the head, snagged some power lines, even caught my own hat. The final straw though, was when I went to cast, I released at the wrong instant and the line launched over my left shoulder at an incredible speed. It disappeared into the woods. I heard a 'tink' like it hit something metal. Then the lure got snagged. I looked up, and estimate that the line angled away from me at 277.5° with regards to north. I'm pretty good at estimating these things! I yanked and yanked but the line broke and I lost my favorite fishing lure. I had to crank that reel exactly 699 times to bring all the line back in. If you find my favorite fishing lure, please don't take it, just let me know that you found it with a note below.
Thanks!!
