Estamos na zona saloia de Sintra.

Estes campos alimentaram Lisboa por muitos séculos, as carnes, as frutas e os legumes, de Lisboa, cresciam nestes pastos e hortas.

Ainda se vêem muitos dos muros que delimitavam as terras e as protegiam contra os ventos do mar.

Nestas zonas, mais perto do mar, ainda se podem ver as macieiras enterradas, só com as copas a aflorar do chão. O tronco e as raizes estão lá bem em baixo, onde o solo é barro  e onde a humidade da noite serve de rega.

Amplos campos de feno têm belas vistas, este é um desses!

We are in the saloia area of Sintra.

These fields fed Lisbon for many centuries, the meat, fruits and vegetables, from Lisbon, grew in these pastures and vegetable gardens.

You can still see many of the walls that delimited the lands and protected them from the winds of the sea.

In these areas, closer to the sea, you can still see the buried apple trees, with only the tops emerging from the ground. The trunk and roots are down there, where the soil is mud and where the night humidity serves as irrigation.

Wide hay fields have beautiful views, this is one of those!
