THE CACHE IS NOT AT THE LISTED COORDINATES!
Take a hike on the extremely
beautiful Clatsop Loop Trail and solve a puzzle based on photographs to find
this cache!
The posted coordinates will get you
to the parking area and also the trailhead for the hike.
Your goal
will be taking the 2.5 mile loop hike and watching for the eight photo sites
below. As you find each site, note the order in which you found it.
Getting the photos in the right order
as you hike will lead you to the coordinates of the cache.
You will need to hike the
loop in a clockwise direction (the west side first), so shortly after starting,
turn left and follow the sign for
"Viewpoint" and "Lighthouse Trail".
The photo sites are clearly visible
from the trail.
The photos are in a random order
below. As you match each site, record the
order in which you found it, starting with 1 and ending with 8. Also note
the number in parentheses following your answer. For example, if the photo
below happened to be first, make a note of "1 - 7" or similar.
From the hiker camp,
check out the optional viewpoint of Tillamook Rock Lighthouse, then return to
the camp and continue the loop hike by staying on the wide dirt road and
descending the east side of the loop (and keep watching for sites!).
Hint: Printing out the photos
will likely help a lot. Click
here for a printable copy, then Ctrl-P
and print pages 2-5.
Order found: ____ (7)
Order found: ____ (3)
Order found: ____ (5)
This one has proven difficult for the first few finders, but you actually
walk right through/under it, almost like an arch. Note the trail in
the foreground leading right under it.
Order found: ____ (8)
Order found: ____ (8)
Order found: ____ (7)
You should now have the photos
numbered according to their order on the loop.
String together the numbers in
parentheses following your answers for 1 through 4 to get ABCD.
String together the numbers in
parentheses following your answers for 5 through 8 to get EFGH.
The cache is at:
N 45 5A.BCD
W 123 5E.FGH

There is an easy way to get to the
cache. No bushwhacking!
Dogs are welcome on the trail,
but must be kept leashed. There are steep and dangerous dropoffs along
the way.
The (west) ocean side of the loop is part of
the Oregon Coast Trail.
Enjoy the hike!
