Nusa Ceningan gets its name by being the smallest of the three offshore Balinese islands (Cenik is Balinese for small; Nusa is island) - it measures only approx 1km by 4km. It's the intermediary when it comes to height, however... While nearby Lembongan island has a max elevation of about 44m, the Ceningan ridge is at about 100m above sea level. This is the site of the start of this challenge.
The narrow strait between Lembongan and Ceningan islands is shallow and full of seaweed farms and relatively extensive mangrove forests. The strait between Ceningan and Penida (to the East) is not too much wider (approx 1km wide), but it is considerably deeper (well over 100m) and experienes a fairly swift current on the changing tides. This cache overlooks the strait between Ceningan and Penida.
You will have to climb your way down the cliff to reach the GZ. With every meter, it gets steeper and more precarious. Upon placing the cache, a network of ropes had been strung by locals to aid the descent and ascent, but please be aware that maintenance is questionable and you should test ropes thoroughly before relying on them... or better yet, bring and set your own and use a harness and clip to be safe!
Even though the distance as the crow flies from the 'Trailhead' to the GZ appears negligible, please be aware it is basically a direct descent. Be careful and Enjoy the stunning views!
