Mureș (Latin Maris, Hungarian Maros, German Mieresch) is a river that flows in Romania and Hungary, 789 km long and flows into the Tisza. The Mureș springs from the Hășmașu Mare Mountains, crosses the Giurgeu Depression and the Deda - Toplița Gorge, crosses Transylvania separating the Târnavelor Plateau from the Transylvanian Plain, crosses the Alba-Iulia - Turda corridor, in the Western Carpathians separates the Apuseni Mountains from the Po Mountains from the West passing through the city of Arad to Hungary, where it flows into the river Tisza. For 22.3 km the river marks the Romanian-Hungarian border
