Geocache Description:

One-room schools were commonplace throughout portions of various countries, including Norway, Sweden, the United States, and Canada. In most small town schools, all of the students met in a single room. There, a single teacher taught academic basics to several grade levels of elementary-age children. While no longer used, several of these historic structures remain standing in rural communities across the United States.

In 1777 a provision was made for the building of Spruce Corner School and a log building was erected on Old Goshen Road (now Willis Howes Rd). This school serviced 6 families in the local area. When the need for a new school became evident this school was built. The Consolidated school was built in 1939 and this district school was abandoned.
