藤橋遺跡は今から3000年～2300年前の縄文時代の晩期の大集落跡です。昭和26年、科学博物館による初めての発掘調査が行われて以降、現在までに数回の調査が実施されています。昭和53年には、新潟県を代表する縄文時代の遺跡として、国の史跡に指定されました。
発掘調査の結果、縄文時代では珍しい高床式構造の「掘立柱建物」が多数発見されています。また、ヒスイや滑石などを使った玉つくりのムラとして、信濃川流域の中心的な集落であったと考えられます。
この貴重な遺跡を保護するとともに、縄文文化を学習する場として、平成4年に史跡公園「藤橋歴史の広場」を開園しました。
The Fujihashi site is the site of a large settlement in the late Jomon period, 3000 to 2300 years ago. Since the first excavation survey was conducted by the Science Museum in 1951, several surveys have been conducted to date. In 1978, it was designated as a national historic site as a representative of Niigata Prefecture during the Jomon period.
As a result of excavation, many "digging pillar buildings" with a stilt structure, which is rare in the Jomon period, have been discovered. In addition, it is thought that it was a central village in the Shinano River basin due to uneven ball making using jade and talc.
In 1992, the historic park "Fujihashi History Square" was opened as a place to protect this precious archaeological site and learn about Jomon culture.
