Geocache Description:

The ABC's of Geocaching

P is for Pill Bottle

A pill bottle is often used by geocachers as a container to hold a log.  This container of course has been repurposed from a container used by a pharmacy to hold prescribed medications.  A pill bottle would normally be considered as either a micro or small container.

To be honest, most containers used by geocachers were intended for a different use entirely.  Several of these that come to mind would be a peanut butter jar, ammo can, lock & lock, matchstick holder, 5 gallon pickle bucket, 35 mm film canisters and the list goes on and on.

A pill bottle is not 100% waterproof.  The cacher who hides a pill bottle usually uses a cammo duck tape and puts the log inside a baggie.

This type of pill bottle with the narrower neck and wider base does not make as good of a container for geocaching as the ones shown first.  It is often difficult to retrieve the log from the container and sometimes in doing so the log gets torn.
