After almost ten years of geocaching I thought it was time to actually place my first hide! What better way to start than to consolidate Castlethorpe on the caching map with a Village Hall Series puzzle of its own? Castlethorpe has been my home since the start of lockdown and I think you really get the best of both worlds here: there are some lovely peaceful countryside walks that follow the River Tove and the Iron Trunk Aqueduct trail into Ouse Valley Park, and you don’t even have to drive too far to get into town (Wolverton is 4 miles, Milton Keynes city centre is 7 miles)
Castlethorpe Village Hall itself is surprisingly much bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside, and in pre-pandemic times it was used regularly by local groups including the village pre-school, youth club, women’s institute, and various fitness classes, and was available for private hire for meetings, parties, wedding receptions etc. For further information please do visit the website https://castlethorpe-pc.gov.uk/

The cache is NOT at the published co-ordinates
This is the site of the village hall itself where you can find a few free parking spaces opposite,alternatively there is a small layby opposite the village shop nearby. If you follow the footpath down the right hand side of the hall, you will reach the castle field which is well worth a visit especially if you have geodogs. You can very clearly see the moat of the castle that once stood here (and it is excellent fun to toboggan in the snow!)
