Geocache Description:

This is the nineteenth in a series of historic Randolph Township caches

Welcome to Fairview Cemetery! Thanks for stopping by for a visit.

Burials in Fairview Cemetery date back to the 1820s when the cemetery was owned and operated by Fairview Brethren in Christ Church, which once was located in the gray frame building west of the cemetery on the other side of Union Road. Today, the cemetery is managed by the City of Englewood. Many early settlers are buried in this cemetery. One of the more notable is Edwin C. Sinks, b. 26 Oct 1877-d. 20 November 1917. Sinks, who was a photographer by trade, lived in Englewood and took many important photos of area residents and sites during the 1900s. He is best known for his views of “The Old Wooden Bridge” over the Stillwater River (East of Englewood on the National Road), and his many school class photos. He courted two of the Rasor sisters, but never married. While still a young man, he contracted tuberculosis and died in the prime of his life.

For further information regarding history in this area or family genealogy, contact the Randolph Township Historical Society at www.rths.org.
