U is for UPOS

UPOS is an acronym that stands for Unusual Pile of Sticks... If it was UPOR it would be Unusual Pile of Rocks, but we did a cache earlier about a pile of rocks so now this one is about sticks.

   Often times when you see a pile of sticks near the base of a tree it is being used as camouflage hiding a geocache underneath.  Move the sticks around and if the container is there you will find it.  Be sure to cover the container back over with the sticks after signing the log.

Sometimes even with the unusual pile of sticks partially covering the cache, you can see the container from a distance.  Again, when you replace everything, do so as you found it.  If you recover it too much it may not be found.  By covering the cache too much you may have just made what was a difficulty rating of 3 now a 4.5 which is not what the CO had in mind.

When mapping out this trail I did not realize that U for Unusal Pile of Sticks would end up being in a wooded area. It's pretty difficult to find an unusal pile of sticks when there is so much of it around. That is the reason for the higher difficulty rating.
