Geocache Description:

FRIENDLY FIRE

As you make your way carefully up to the location of this cache from the main coastal track, you will observe numerous signs of previous human history and effects on this island. Not all of what you see is from volcanic origins.  You will pass by impact craters that result from test firing WWII guns - from North Head as I understand. Fragments of the shells fired at the island also abound. Don't touch them, obviously as that's always the safest option, although they are not actually dangerous.

To reach this cache you will need to cross more than 600 metres of loose scoria and lava.  Wear sturdy shoes, long pants and long sleeves. Gloves and/or a walking pole are also recommended. Please take care, and obviously if this adventure is not for you, that's ok, there are plenty of other great caches on the island! Cache safe.

You are looking for a camouflaged 500ml screwtop jar. BYO pen.
