V is for Virtual

A virtual cache is another type of cache.   A Virtual Cache is about discovering a location rather than a container.  The requirements for logging a Virtual Cache can vary --- you may be required to answer a question or two about the location, take a picture, complete a task, etc.   In any case, you must visit the coordinates before you can post your log.

Of the over 21,500 caches in Iowa about 75 of them are virtuals, including the virtual rewards caches that were recently awarded.  

What I like about virtuals is that they take you places that you would not have gone to otherwise.  Yes, you can say that about geocaching in general, but I know that if at this spot there was a traditional cache instead of the virtual that I would not have gone out of my to get it.

There are two things I want to share with you in the above photo. 

First of all, to me anyway, because I like history the virtual where this photo is taken is the best virtual in Iowa.   It is Lincoln's Land GC6C75 and I would invite you to go there if you haven't already.  It is amazing what you can learn that you had absolutely no idea of before.  I would also invite you to take a look at my virtual USA, All The Way North , again, a place many of you have not been to but perhaps sometime you will go there because of the virtual cache located in this most Northern part of Minnesota.

Secondly, I want to point out that when you take a photo and post it on your found log that you do not include anything in that photo that would reveal any of the answers to someone.  In the photo you can see a historical marker of some kind but there is not enough showing to indicate any of the required answers.
