When I first explored this obscure little path along Alligator Creek for a place to hide a geocache, I had no idea that the spot I had chosen was once the home of a previous cache, the container still there but long neglected. The golf pencils inside were nothing more than soggy splinters of wood, and the log a wet gray lump that fell apart in my hands. No writing on it that was legible. The only other thing that remained inside the container was a gift card, which I have placed in the new cache for someone to enjoy.
Begin at the Kapok Park parking lot. I’ve marked a trailhead on the map. At times the path to follow is faint, but it does continue around the denser vegetation as you hike parallel to Alligator Creek. At one point, it's rather hard to see which way to go. Look for a three-trunked tree with a stick nailed to it to find the way forward. Please keep clear of the back yards of the nearby houses. They aren’t fenced in.
