Initially this was going celebrate Jazzy's 15th birthday along with Geocaching 20th Anniversary. But 2020 just didn't work out, so now we are approaching Jazzy's 16th birthday and we still have an opportunity to celebrate geocaching. Join us for a pot luck lunch. Paper and plastic ware, and beverages will be provided, as well as treat bags for the geo-dogs who RSVP. Come prepared for a doggie fashion show, games, prizes, maybe a few new caches, and lots of community fun.
Jazzy the Geomut
When I started geocaching, I loved hiking the trails, discovering new places and parks that the caches brought me. I whistfully noted muggles with their dogs and imagined sharing these trails with a dog. So when Jazzy joined our family as an 8 week old puppy, I couldn't wait to take her out to find caches with me. We soon discovered many other geocache teams who included dogs. Some dogs were talented enough to actually find cache containers. We tried to teach Jazzy this skill, but she was just too easily distracted.. She still remained my most eager companion, always ready to head out at any time. Until recently, she was tireless, never complaining about long hikes.
It's not just about finding the Tupperware
After 20 years, Geocaching has certainly developed community, from formal organizations like MiGO to informal pairs and groups of geocachers who share their hobby. Hunting for caching alone is fun, but it is more so when shared with others with the same interest. I buddied up of course with CyclingFool, and later with bluedinosaur. I've also enjoyed teaming up with CCSquire, Merlin and mkettel, tazk, R&L1, DirtBikeGranny and ecali, along with may others on bikes or kayaks.
Please log your "Will Attend"
