The Endangered UK Birds Series is a circular walk of just under 4 miles starting and finishing in Fleckney. Parking is available either in the village car park, N52.535156, W1.043887, or along one of the side streets in the village.
There are 244 species of birds in the UK. Over a quarter, 27% of them are on the Red List - ‘highest conservation concern’.
Ten years ago only 21% of the species were endangered and included on the Red List.
You may see many birds along the walk and if you're lucky you may see one of the birds on the Red List.
House sparrows can be found from the centre of cities to the farmland of the countryside, they feed and breed near to people. It is a species vanishing from the centre of many cities, but is not uncommon in most towns and villages.
