Camp XVIII. (Talbett's.) Thursday, 13/9/1860.
After having halted at Poon Boon Lake (six miles beyond what Becker referred to as ‘McKenzie's head-station’, and nineteen miles from the Speewa camp), Becker and the others with the camels were ordered on to camp at Talbett's punt on the Wakool, ten miles beyond Poon Boon Lake.
The wagons with their food and tents were left behind as the sandy road not permitting them to keep pace with the camels.
After making camp, they crossed the river on Henry Talbett's punt and were provided with a meal from Talbett's hotel at Wakool Crossing (now Kyalite).
After dinner they crossed back over the river. Lighting several fires they slept in the open beside the camels.
