Geocache Description:

Ovaron has been on the geocaching scene in the Lower Hudson Valley since 2010. He has contributed a variety of hides, including many colorful tribute ammocans dotting the woods of Campgaw and Ramapo Reservation. Recently, Ovaron crafted a quality Sword in the Stone hide that has been a big hit among those who have had the pleasure of finding it.

Besides contributing a variety of hides to the game, Ovaron sets and achieves many ambitious geocaching goals for himself. Planning vacations and spur of the moment weekend trips around finding year 2K caches and other interesting hides, Ovaron has been able to complete the Jasmer Grid 4 times! That's incredible dedication!

Visiting all 50 states—some more than once—Ovaron has also found all of the caches in the Cache Across America Series, grabbing that series final in February 2020. Ovaron had many great times and adventures along the way to that series final, and I was along for the ride on some of them.

Besides Jasmer grids and CAA, perhaps Ovaron’s greatest pride and joy comes from snapping up webcam geocaches. He achieved #1 Webcam Geocacher in the World status before being knocked out of the spot by aogagent1. Not one to give up easily, Ovaron clawed his way back up to #1, where he sat precariously perched until aogagent1 knocked him down again. Time will tell if he will rise up to reclaim the spot. Regardless of the final outcome, that is quite a geocaching achievement that has taken him to many interesting locations along the way.

With many of his geocaching goals achieved, Ovaron hopped back into the FTF game with the goal of completing his FTF calendar. Working out of NY and NJ, Ovaron has been grabbing FTFs in both states. He has been known to grab them even when out of state on crazy road trips.

Not even a global pandemic can slow Ovaron down for long. On Sundays, fueled by a breakfast of champions and plenty of water, Ovaron can be found speedily and stealthily cruising along the many cache rich trails within an ever growing radius of his weekend base in NJ, gobbling up hides in a feeding frenzy. At this point, he has achieved 10K finds, although getting him to log them in a timely manner would be like getting blood from a stone.

This geocache is placed in memory of the many laughs and crazy situations I experienced on geocaching adventures with Ovaron. Lots of good times and memories! The container is a recycled ammocan from an archived cache that I found a few years ago. Ovaron wanted to find it, but I beat him to it.  I wonder who, if anyone, will beat him to it this time.

Enjoy the journey!
