St Columba Catholic Yorketown
The original Church was built in 1873 and later the current Church was built and the foundation stone was laid on the 28th June 1903 by FR.Murphy.
Architect was Albert S Conrad and was of a conventional Gothic design of the transitional period and modelled on Ecclasiastical lines,
The facade being broken with seperate roof portico and porch over the entrance .
A belfry rising above the nave and specially picked local stone ,squared ,struck and pointed with tinted cement dressings
A Catholic and Protestant Choir were at the opening and Miss Flo Mathews organist.
Sand ,lime and stone for the Church was donated as was the carting of material.
The stained glass windows were also donated.
