Any notes made [ Right Hand Side (RHS) ] are from the aspect of starting at the Dover Street, Mowbray end.
(RHS) Rocherlea Trail # 1 You will need a writing stick to sign the log.
From here you can see the Dover Sports Ground on your left.
It is possible to use the Rocherlea Rail Trail all the way from Rocherlea into the city of Launceston. However you will need to use the roads to get around the racecourse due to a missing bridge behind the racecourse.
- The trail features some nice cuttings and embankments at the Rocherlea end
- The Rocherlea to Mowbray section of the trail is sealed with a good surface
- There are good views of the rail line adjacent to the trail
- There are good views of the city of Launceston
This 3 km section of the Rocherlea Rail Trail is a sealed trail that follows the old railway line between Mowbray and Rocherlea and forms a good commuter link between the two suburbs. It is used by walkers, cyclists and people walking their dogs.
The trail can be accessed near the end of Hume Street, off George Town Road. Travelling in this direction it is a slight downhill most of the way with an uphill return. Travelling from Mowbray to Rocherlea would be a slight uphill outward with a downhill return. Parking from this direction is at the end of Dover Street.
I have set the caches as if travelling from Mowbray to Rocherlea. All caches are within a few metres of the trail. The caches consist of a mixture of plastic food & tablet containers and eclipse mint tins.
