Introduction

The Elsieskraal Power Walk Series of geocaches has been prepared as an educational initiative to introduce young people to two things: types of geocache hides that they will encounter in an urban environment as they start geocache activity; and to some interesting facets of Pineland history encountered along the walk. It may assist Scouts in obtaining their geocaching badge and may be suitable as a small-group youth activity: either school of faith based.
The Power Walk is a circular trail of just under 6 km along the walkway that goes along both sides of the canal. For its entire length the walk is in a proclaimed green recreational zone.
The walk can be started at any point and the caches don't need to be found in any particular order. There are many convenient parking spots on the roads that run adjacent to the canal.

This particular cache will take you arround the Clyde soccer field to the Softball field, you will need to return to the walkway close to the clubhouse to continue along the canal trail.

Open Sports Facilities adjacent to the Elsieskraal Canal

The Clyde Pinelands Sports Ground in Pinelands has facilities for softball in the summer months and soccer in the winter months. The grounds have Summer playing fields, Winter playing fields, Floodlights, a Clubhouse, Ablution amenities and have Disability access

Clyde Pinelands Associated Football Club (CPAFC) is the oldest non-amalgamated football club in South Africa having been formed in 1898, making it over 120 years old.  The club was formed by a Scotsman named Daddy McCloud who was a member of either Clyde FC or Clydebank FC in Scotland. Since its inception the club  colours have remained maroon and white with a touch of gold.

The club has won every amateur title that there is in the Western Province as well as the National Club Championships – twice in the 1970’s! It has made it to the quarter finals of the South African equivalent of the “FA Cup” on two occasions.

During its life the club went through a number of transitions, for the love of the game crossing South African racial lines on many occasions. Today the club serves all socio economic and racial groups, and both genders. The club puts the love of soccer above colour, wealth and neighbourhood and is open to all.
