This cache is hidden near one of the two restroom facilities in the Knoxville Recreation Area. The other is in the campground.
This cache is one of my original prototypes. I hope you enjoy it.
Knoxville Recreation Area is very remote and a very cool place to get away from the stresses of life for a few hours. However, a few words of caution.
1. Check out the map. There is a dirt road that goes all the way though this area. There is a Southern and Northern entrance. There several caches hidden along the road. My Knoxville15 - Top of the Ridge cache is about half way for reference.
2. This is dirt road is very rough and narrow in parts and has exposed rocks and dips (washout spots). It hasn't been graded in a few years. The worst part is around my Knoxville15 - Top of the Ridge cache. I would highly recommend using a vehichle with good ground clearance and all terrain tires. This is NOT THE PLACE TO HAVE MECHANICAL ISSUES WITH YOUR VEHICLE. Please make sure your vehichle is up to the task before heading up here and carry a good spare tire just in case.
3. After rains, these roads can get muddy. 4WD is almost a must have in wet muddy conditions.
4. This cache can be accessed easier from the Northern entry point. If you don't feel comfortable driving out to this one, THEN DON'T. Please use good judgement.
5. This is also Rattlesnake country so please keep and eye and ear out for them. If you see or hear one near the cache, just take a quick picture of the cache site, from a distance, and send it to me. Then go ahead and log the find. I have been caching here since 2006 and have only seen one and it wasn't near any of my caches. But... they could be.
