This cache is placed near the home of the Superior Classics Car Club annual Terrace Bay Dragfest. Dragfest has been held on the long weekend in August since 1999, at the former Terrace Bay Airport. The airport was closed in 2005 due to rising costs and declining demand. A Heliport operates now at the airport for the air ambulance.
The fastest time down the 1/4 mile drag strip approaches 215 mph at less than 7 seconds.
My best time down the drag strip is 48.54 mph in 26.37 seconds. Don't laugh, at the time of this run my car was 84 years old. Not bad for a stock 1930 Ford Model A with the original flat head 4 cylinder motor rated at 40 Hp.
This is a good place for a break from driving for both kids and adults. It is also good place to let the dogs run.
