On 12 April 1934, the Lord Mayor arrived by carriage to ceremonially open Sea Mills Library. Designed by city architect C. F. Dawson, it was the third branch opened in Bristol in just 1934. It consists of one public room used for reference and lending, and rear staff accommodation.
It cost £3,000 and the elegant furniture and fittings were carried out in unstained Austrian oak by the Bristol firm of A. G. Matthews of Redcliffe Hill. With 6,000 books, newspapers and periodicals chosen to suit the student, artisan and general reader'.
Sea Mills Library is currently one of 27 libraries in the Bristol area and offers a wide variety of both physical and online services to the public.
Stealth may be required during library opening hours due to an increase of muggles, but this cache is available to find even when the library is closed.
