OR-7 (Journey)
In 2011 a young male gray wolf began travel from his pack in the Wallowa Mountains of north-eastern Oregon to find a new territory for himself. He traveled more than 1,000 miles before settling in the Rogue River watershed. That was remarkable because he became the first confirmed wild wolf in western Oregon since 1947.
In the following years Journey, as he became known, found a mate and sired at least two pups, starting what is now called the Rogue Pack. The annual winter wolf count in 2020 did not include OR-7 and he is now presumed dead. His progeny are still regularly caught on camera in the cache area.
