Kakiat Park is a favorite destination for Woodstock whenever she wants to get on her boots and go for a Beagle Scout hike. She especially loves visiting Grandma & Grandpa, and lounging on the couch with her friends - Hey, do you think we can see the birdhouse from here?? 
If you're up for an adventure, there are many different ways to approach this location. The Beagle Scouts recommend a nice loop from the open recreational area of Kakiat Park - Take the orange (mountain) blaze trail up and around to the pipeline, continue up the utility access route, then make a left on the SBM yellow (bird) blaze to your target destination. Finish your trek on yellow (or back on orange) by going down the white (kakiat) trail, then out via the blue. Budget a minimum trail time of 2 hours, and make sure you go prepared with basic safety items (food, water, first aid, cell phone, etc) just in case.
This placement is all about the journey from start to finish. Along the way you will get some bird's-eye views of Rockland County, encounter various woodland creatures, and even swim through a pod of whale-size boulders. It's also kind of funny, but birthday-birds sure do love their whales, so it makes perfect sense that this recycled briansnat container is settled right next to a big one.
