Some people believe that Lake Lanier is haunted. I am not so sure about that but I do know that I run into lots of creepy critters (well, some creepy-crawly and some not so creepy) as I hike in different parks around the lake. I have seen more deer than I can count, black and rat snakes, various bugs, geese, frogs, ducks, herons, opposum, raccoons and more spiders and their sticky webs than I care to count (yuck). I once happened upon a hawk munching happily on a squirrel just a few feet above my head. As I was scouting out my cache placement, another hiker told me he had just seen a copperhead snake. Yikes!
You must sign the log in the cache to claim credit for the find. Please bring your own pen. There is ample parking for cars and boats. I suggest you enter the trail at the handrails and enjoy the scenic walk to the cache. Most of the parks around the lake are closed during the night. That is good because you want to search for this cache in the daytime.
