Scat identification is used by hunters and scientists alike. To some it may be gross, but it can tell us a lot about an animal’s diet, habits, and movement. Use the key below to identify the different Maryland mammals shown in the attached pictures. Who knows – you might not only find the location of this cache, but also gain some knowledge that could be useful to you while out there on the trail!
