Geocache Description:

A quick cache ‘n’ dash near a triple ley line intersection.

Photo from Higgypop.com

Ley lines are straight lines which connect historic structures, sacred sites, and prominent landmarks. There are ley lines all over the world and many in the UK. The term ‘ley lines’ was coined by Alfred Watkins in his book called The Old Straight Track which was published in 1925.

These lines are said to be a grid of the Earth’s energies and hold magical significance with an even stronger one where they intersect. Stonehenge and Loch Moy connect 9 and 7 ley lines respectively. Some believe that structures were deliberately built on these lines for some reason or another.

The Skelmuir Hill Circle near where this cache is placed connects the North East Scotland Ley Line, the Eastern Scotland Ley Line, and the Skelmuir Hill Circle Ley Line. Unfortunately the stone circle which was here has now largely been destroyed; only 2 stones remain. Due to the position of the stones, they are now inaccessible. From the cache location, you should be able to see at least one of the stones.

Whether or not you believe in the power of Ley Lines, be sure to look out for mysterious goings on.
