It had to happen in 2020!
During my lunch break I decided to take a quick wander out to Bear Brook to grab a couple new caches placed in some more wild areas. Having a cache container with me I figured I would place a geocache relatively close to the new geocache. This cache was originally going to be called I placed a Geocache without my kids.
I carried on and found a few geocaches including some pretty extensive wandering while bushwacking.
I got back to my car, no key in my pocket. The very carefully selected pocket in which I had placed my key so it would not accidentally fall out. No key in any pocket, no key near the car, dead cell phone battery.
Luckily, I live in town and was able to get a ride home with the parent of my son's classmate.
That evening, I decided to retrace my steps a little in hopes of finding the key... perhaps near where I placed the geocache.
No luck, but when checking the geocache coordinates I discovered that I was still within another cache's "force field" (as my kids call them). So thanks to the lost keys this cache should now be set.
Lots and lots of beavers in the nearby pond (or possibly just one really angry beaver).
Moral of the story: Its easy to forget that Bear Brook is a wilderness, don't lose your keys, especially not in Fall.
