This geocache is based on a series on Hamilton: An American Musical by Lin-Manuel Miranda. It tells the story of an American Founding Father, Alexander Hamilton. The predominately rapped-through musical with heavy hip hop influence, as well as R&B, pop, soul, and traditional-style show tune style premiered on Broadway in 2015. At the 2016 Tony Awards, Hamilton received a record-breaking 16 nominations and won 11 awards, including Best Musical. It received the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and a host of other awards along the way.
In 2016 a few performances were filmed along with filming with a closed house in order to get extra camera angles that one cannot get during a live performance. As of July 3, 2020 viewers can now watch the live production in movie format through a streaming service.
Besides it being VERY difficult STILL to get tickets to a live show, musical geeks can relish in seeing close up the crazy amount of detail put into this musical, far beyond the story/lyrics (as recognized by the Tony awards alone). We are now able to treat ourselves to catching the immersive choreography, the simple but morphing stage design, and the killer double-turn table on the floor that can move in opposite directions to give the illusion of movement and changes in time.
To find this geocache you will be searching for a bison tube affixed to a historic building in the Downtown Searcy, Arkansas area. It dates back to 1928 but has been showcasing the Art Deco design since the 1940s. Be sure to also note the beautiful neon marquee if you are searching at night. If you want to know more about this building, an Adventure Lab published nearby with some great local history while I was working on getting this one placed.
