This is a traditional cache close to the car park so you will need to be very careful of muggles! Please do not place travel bugs in these caches as people who have never geocached before and may never again use these caches having hired GPS at the visitor centre.
In Coed y Brenin we have created 2 Geocache Time Trails designed to form circular walks, using a combination of Forest roads and footpaths taking in secluded sites of historic importance hidden in the forest.
While searching for the caches you’ll walk along the Sarn Helen Roman road, discover a Medieval iron works, learn about the ancient droving routes that used to pass through the area and on the longer route visit the disused Goldmines at Gwynfynydd. These traditional style caches also contain information sheets to explain some of the history of each site visited. Take a few minutes to savour the history of the industrial past of the forest and read the information about this little bit of mining history.
